This week more schools opened but the turn out of students is still very low. The schools are hoping that more children enter classes this coming week. Some schools are still building shelters. Here is a wooden frame that is being constructed in the Delmas 33 area.
The best school in Haiti is considered to be the St. Louis de Gonzague school for boys on Delmas 31. Their buildings were heavily damaged/destroyed during the earthquake. They finished the school year under tents provided by Unicef. This year they are constructing wooden buildings.
They are almost prepared for the new school year.
On Delmas 33 we have watched these buildings being constructed the last couple of months. They are prefabricated modules. An organization from Norway built them. We decided to stop and ask the security guards what was going to be in these buildings.
They told us that this will be used as a maternity hospital for Medecins Sans Frontieres and should be open in the next couple of weeks. It is great to see another hospital so close to where we live! Pray that they will be able to help a lot of people.
