ARTICLE - TAIWAN - $4M GOV'T BUILDINGS

LAMOTHE SIGNS MOU FOR $4M FOR THE RECONSTRUCTION OF GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS
(Defend Haiti) -

PORT-AU-PRINCE - Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ambassador of Taiwan (China) for the reconstruction of government buildings to the tune of $4 million.

The memorandum was signed on Tuesday by the Ambassador of the Republic of China in Haiti, who also represents Taiwan, Bang-Zyh Liu and the Haitian Prime Minister Lamothe, also the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Le Matin reported that the money will be used to fund design studies and the reconstruction of the following public administration buildings:

- the Supreme Court, Ministry of Economy and Finance,

- the General Tax Directorate,

- the General Administration of Customs,

- the Superior Court of Auditors and Administrative Disputes.

The Taiwanese ambassador considers that the reconstruction of public buildings will allow the government to fulfill its mission to its people. The ambassador recalled his trust in the relationship between the two countries, in which he said even the worst disaster can not break or influence relations between the two partners...
