THE CFI MET WITH POTENTIAL INVESTORS
(Haiti Libre) -

Karl Louis Jean, the Director General of the Center of Facilitation of Investments (CFI) met Wednesday at the Karibe Convention Center with U.S. firms, about investment opportunities in Haiti; a meeting that took part of the evaluation approach of the Haitian market by foreign investors.

Karl Louis Jean declared that these potential investors, "are there to look at the possibility of investment in Haiti. In the textile sector, we had the opportunity through SAE-A, which is already in the industrial park of Caracol, to tell them this is what happens, where we are, what we have done together, in terms of the preparation of the Industrial Park; which remains to be done. Here are the opportunities that exist in Haiti, here is what the CFI do [...] we are awaiting you, we are ready to give you all the assistance you need to come and invest in Haiti [...]

Some were visiting Caracol in Cap Haitien, others have visited some firms in the textile industry. It allowed them to see and to have perspectives of investment in the country. The Target Company is very interested. There are others who look at the opportunity from Caracol to extend their business in Haiti, so yes there is a lot of interest [...]

I organized with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) the investment forum in November 2011 ["Invest in Haiti"]. There will be benefits from August... we will start the construction of the Marriott Hotel. 4 other companies have decided to invest, they have signed, including Sherwin-Williams. There are others who will come to Caracol..."

Karl Jean Louis explained that between the intention to invest for a foreign company, get all the information to incorporate them into their decision process, it necessarily takes time, because it is a decision to invest money and this is why "Haiti needs political stability and strong institutions, to support these investors."
