FIRST TRAINING SEMINAR IN UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT
(Haiti Libre) -

The first training seminar organized as part of the Training Program in University Management for Haitian institutions of higher education will be held at The Plaza Hotel (Room Therese II) in Port-au-Prince, on February 16, 17 and 18, 2012.

Established by the Catalan Association of Public Universities (ACUP) and the consortium of universities Laval, Ottawa, Moncton and Sherbrooke (LOMS), this initiative benefits from the collaboration of the State University of Haiti and Harvard University, and the funding of the Obra Social "la Caixa" and Open Society Foundations (Soros Foundation).

More than 30 representatives of member universities of the Conference of Rectors, Presidents and leaders of Haitian (Corpuha) higher education institutions will attend this training, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training of Haiti (MENFP).

The main objectives of the training program are: to inform participants of the ongoing transformation of higher education around the world and the role of universities in our societies, and to give participants an overview of new thinking in the sector of the management of higher education institutions. This should help them to improve the performance of their institutions; to provide participants with practical skills that will enable them to adapt to the transformation of higher education in their own working environment and, finally, to accompany participants in the implementation of projects of change in their working environment.

The training program is divided into four thematic sections devoted to the most important aspects of university management: policies and orientations, the mission of the university, management and management tools, and the future of universities. These thematic blocks will include several training modules that will be offered in 2012 as part of four training seminars in Haiti, and a training seminar for one week in Barcelona, Spain. In addition, participants will receive individual coaching to design, plan and develop a personal action plan to implement concrete projects in their respective institutions.
