ARTICLE - PASSPORT NUMBER NOT MARTELLYS'

THE PASSPORT NUMBER PROVIDED BY SENATOR MOISE IS NOT THAT OF MARTELLY
(Haiti Libre) -

The U.S. Ambassador to Haiti, Kenneth Merten, wrote to the Senate Committee on dual nationality, the letter read by Senator Lambert that explains: "Mr. First Secretary, the Embassy of the United States of America presents its compliments to the Senate Commission responsible for shedding light on the nationality of some officials of the Haitian executive power. I acknowledge receipt of your letter dated January 18, 2012, in which you ask the Embassy, on behalf of the Commission to confirm or deny that the passport number PUSA043911230 is that of a U.S. passport, and it it was issued in the name of Mr. Joseph Michel Martelly currently President of the Republic of Haiti, by this, please note that this passport number [which was communicated by Senator Moïse] has no relation to President Martelly. Moreover, the Embassy wishes to inform you that the laws on privacy, in force in the United States of America, place restrictions on the dissemination of confidential information held by the U.S. government, without the written permission of the person concerned..."

We are far from the statements of Senator Jean-Charles Moïse who has repeatedly said of having given to the Parliamentar enough information to substantiate his accusations. Especially, that Dr. Polycarp (President of the Commission) recognized "that research was continuing to find documents that might confirm the accusations of Senator Jean-Charles..."
