RESIGNED DELEGATE CLAIMS TO HOLD SECRETS ABOUT CARNIVAL IN LES CAYES
(Defend Haiti) -
LES CAYES – The Departmental Delegate of the South, Gabriel Fortuné, who resigned from his position last week, again, on Wednesday, reaffirmed his resignation saying he would not reveal the reason until after the National Carnival festivities in Les Cayes.
On Monday, President Michel Martelly told the press that Fortuné had changed his mind about resigning, after he and the former delegate had a conversation over the phone.
Fortuné said on Wednesday that there was a conversation between he and the Head of State, for whom he represented in the department, but said that he had not changed his mind about resigning. Fortuné reaffirmed his resignation in the press.
The delegate and former senator says he has revelations to make public about the government’s activities in Les Cayes, where the National Carnival of Haiti is to be held February 18-21st.
Fortuné says he awaits the closure of the event before revealing these matters which led him to resign.
The only questionable sign that would show discontent on the part of Gabriel Fortuné would be a news article shared on his facebook page.
In this article, former First Lady Mirlande Manigat alleges a "vast government money laundering" operation as the reason for hosting the national carnival in Les Cayes.
This particular Facebook post is questionable on this particular Facebook page. One would have to ask, why would someone in charge of planning and managing the event, share an article so unfortunate?
