The main focus of Red Cross work has been the reconstruction of a drainage canal. It is better to have a covered canal but the steel cover lids will have to be locked. With no garbage removal service in the area, the residents will most likely open the lids and through the garbage into the canal.
This was Phil and Rosalyn's first glance at the damage around them.
People make do with scraps of tin and plastic tarps to construct a home.
The goal of the project was to construct a good canal for the community. It didn't need to be so wide though.
