GUITEAU TOUSSAINT WAS VICE-PRESIDENT OF CLINTON BUSH HOTEL INVESTMENT

PORT-AU-PRINCE - The slain Chairman of the National Bank of Credit, Guiteau Toussaint, served also as the 2nd Vice-President of the Oasis Hotel which had received last month a 2 million dollar investment from the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund.
Reported on the Defend Haiti facebook page on January 11 2010 - "The coming tide" - the Oasis Hotel brought together a group of investors, Haitian and Haitian-American who, besides investing in a luxurious hotel also aimed to build the Haitian economy.
The DH note reads:
Oasis is a group of investors run by its President Philippe Jerry Tadieu. Tardieu is already impacting the country's economy by contracting nearly 50% of the work load to Haitian businesses in architecture and engineering.
Five years after the nation plunged into lawlessness (2004), this investment-hungry nation is riding a wave of improved security and relative calm. The result: a renewed sense of investor confidence by an unlikely crowd -- the local business elite.* ABC news reported that it is not one, but chains of hotels coming back to Haiti.
A magnitude 7 earthquake frightened investment but all would not be lost if not for U.S. donors through the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund which made an investment for $2 million on the property.
Guiteau Toussaint was the 2nd Vice-President of the Oasis Hotel. Toussaint's engagement in the organization was valued for his knowledge in business and economics.
President Philippe Jerry Tardieu is a Harvard Graduate and Vice-President of the 2nd largest and oldest newspaper in Haiti. Tardieu is also an author of books on politics, finances and economic development.
The 1st Vice President is Jacques Deschamps Fils, a boxing enthusiast and international boxing promoter. Deschamps is also the brother of Henri Deschamps, Chairman of the 4th largest bank in Haiti, PromoCapital. PromoCapital is co-chaired by former presidential candidate, Dumarsais Siméus.
Guiteau Toussaint was to present "Kay Pam" a public home mortgage program, with the President of the Republic on Tuesday. The first of its kind, the public mortgage program would have made loans available to the majority of the population and to the rest a lottery option.
President Michel Martelly has condemned the death of Toussaint and has told citizens that he would pursue justice, once and for all in Haiti.
Outgoing Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive was quoted in the Miami Herald : “It is a great loss for the country. He was a great manager. But most of all, he was a great guy who was really concerned and dedicated to change in Haiti."
