ELECTION RUMOR MILL - VOTE RESULTS

Rumors are flying of the success and not-so success of the 2nd round of elections. One rumor published on another blog site shows figures of an "info source" and it shows that the election is close! I figured that Martelly would win in a landslide but it appears that this is true only in the West Department of which Port-au-Prince is part of. It sure will be interesting to know if this "source" is a wild rumor or close to the actual results. The next week will be interesting while we wait for the actual (preliminary) results which will be issued on March 31.

The Rumor Results by department are:

North-West - Manigat - 56.3%; Martelly - 43.7%

North - Manigat - 49%; Martelly - 51%

North-East - Manigat - 60.3%; Martelly - 39.7%

Artibonite - Manigat - 62.5%; Martelly - 37.5%

Centre - Manigat - 52.9%; Martelly - 47.1%

West - Manigat - 40%; Martelly - 60%

Nippes - Manigat - 60.5%; Martelly - 39.5%

Grand Anse - Manigat - 52.6%; Martelly - 37.4%

South-East - Manigat - 50%; Martelly - 50%

South - Manigat - 48.1%; Martelly - 51.9%

Total Votes - Manigat = 400,062
Total Votes - Martelly = 406, 232

Martelly wins with 6,170 more votes (.76% difference)

Pray for calm. If Manigat is elected there will be a lot of protests here in Port-au-Prince.
