photos - elections - part 13

There were quite a bit of tempers flaring on election day. Voters were getting frustrated because they couldn't exercise their right to vote, and there was lots of fraud going on. The voting station by the Theatre National was not functioning well. Protesters came and started burning tires to show their anger.

People wanted others to know that the voting site wasn't functioning well. Burning tires sure puts your point across and gets people's attention too!

The UN was there and checking out the situation.

A couple UN soldiers on the ground were keeping an eye on things too. You can see how much garbage is near the canal.

The soldier found a board and hauled one of the burning tires.
