The children enjoyed running around with sparklers but we stopped handing out sparklers when they started throwing them up high into the trees so that they could have a Christmas tree!
Rainy season is here and when it rains it pours! This canal quickly fills up with water. The next day a backhoe dredged it to improve the drainage.
Flooding almost happened. This is the short-cut over Delmas 33 that we take now that the Delmas 31 bridge is out. There were other areas of Port-au-Prince that faced the same situation.

We needed some more sand and I sent one of the guys to get a load. The poor guy in the truck though ended up having to hang on because the back wouldn't come back down. It was funny. I took a picture. There was a twig blocking the mechanism from working.

Happy Belated Birthday Karen! May the Lord continue to grant you many more healthy years in His service. I just talked to your dad at my mom's birthday and now to see pictures of him is so amazing. He told us that he was going to Haiti and its so nice to see him healthy and strong and always supporting you. Hope you had a great birthday!! Mieke
