SENATOR BENOIT RETURNS TO NATIONALITY COMMISSION OF INQUIRY
(Defend Haiti) -

PORT-AU-PRINCE - Thursday, after announcing his resignation from the Senate inquiry commission on dual citizenship because of a personal conflict with President Martelly, Senator Steven Benoit (Ouest/Alternative) said Friday, that he reconsidered his decision.

Senator Steven Benoit, who retired Thursday from the Senate committee charged with investigating the nationality of the head of state and government officials, said Friday that he reversed his decision, and is still part of the commission.

Senator Benoit said he that he did so after various calls from his fellow Senators, who asked him not to leave the commission. “The Chairman of the Committee, Senator Joseph Lambert, had not accepted my resignation from the commission”, said Mr. Benoit.

In a press conference Thursday, Senator Benoit denounced what he calls a smear campaign by President Martelly against himself, and said that from now on his life is in the hands of the Head of State, and his cronies.
