ARTICLE - FRANCE - 400,000 E$ TO PNH

FRANCE OFFERS 400,000 EUROS OF EQUIPMENT TO THE PNH
(Haiti Libre) -

France presented Wednesday, to the National Police of Haiti (PNH), during a ceremony, machines for making cartridges, helmets, bullet-proof vests, and computer equipment worth 400,000 euros to help the National Police in its' work.

The Inspector General, Jean Lionel Trécil declared: "we are happy to receive this new equipment for the proper functioning of the PNH. We will put them to use quickly to the benefit of the protection of our population [...] The hardware will allow faster communication between departmental Directors, and the service will be more effective [...] We will train more technicians to use these machines and equipment."

The Ambassador of France in Haiti, Didier Lebret has taken advantage of this event to return to the PNH operations conducted last weekend "...I have a feeling that it was a beautiful operation; there was no blood shed, there were no injuries (or very few anyway),... and it was done professionally, and very intelligently. Thus, it's also an operation that contributes to restore the word, and authority of the State, because the President had asked that the camps be evacuated.

This shows that in Haiti, we can not do anything; there are decisions, there is an administrative organization, and then there are actions being taken against the decision or order that is not respected. I think that this is a very encouraging sign. It is important to continue, of course; that does not prevent to talk, especially on the social matters of pensions and compensation, and to allow the President and his Government, in good conditions, to be able to address the issue of the strengthening, generally, of the security device in Haiti..."
