HAITIAN IMMIGRATION PROBLEM MUST BE DEALT WITH "ONCE AND FOR ALL," CARDINAL SAYS
(Dominican Today) -

Santo Domingo - Cardinal Nicolas de Jesus Lopez Rodriguez on Tuesday night urged the country to deal with the Haitian immigration problem “once and for all;” one day after uproar caused by the resolution banning school enrolment to undocumented people. "Simply once and for all, the country has to head toward dealing with the Haitian problem once and for all."

"We can not continue with this nonsense every so often. My opinion is that we deal with the problem seriously," the cardinal said.

The prelate said there should be a deal for Haiti to send its nationals to the Dominican Republic; "not illegal, because that’s not done in any country in the world."

"So we’re faced with a dilemma. If we don’t do it we face international conflicts. If we do this we create internal conflicts," Lopez said before the start of an activity at the San Antonio de Padua Parish, in the capital.
