ARTICLE - NAT. COMMISSION RESIGNATIONS

RESIGNATIONS IN SERIES WITHIN THE SPECIAL COMMISSION OF INQUIRY ON NATIONALITY
(Haiti Libre) -

Senators Lambert (Co-President of the Commission), Youri Latortue (Secretary General of the Commission), and Yvon Buissereth (Member of the Commission) have resigned from the Special Commission of Inquiry on Nationality, a few hours before the declaration of the Head of State on his Haitian nationality.

Pending the appointment of any new co-President [or the end of this Commission?], Senator Moïse is currently alone at the head of the Commission...

Senator Lambert, who yesterday confirmed his resignation from the Commission, announced [before the intervention of the Head of State that important revelations would be made in the coming hours, which could cause unrest in the country; even speaking of a "Kouri". Statements that were followed by a rumor which suggested that the authorities would dissolve the parliament.

The statements of Senator Lambert caused confusion and a wave of public concern in the population, who quickly deserted the streets of the capital, fearing the worst... A concern reinforced by the intervention on a radio station of the capital, by Senator Benoît (Member of the Commission on Nationality), who did not exclude that his life is threatened, and urged people to be cautious and stay at home...

Note that the 3 Senators who resigned refused to sign the letter addressed by the Commission to the Chief of State, asking him to authorize the Commission to investigate with U.S. and Italian authorities.

After the intervention of President Martelly, Senator Youri Latortue welcomed the approach. "The Head of State provided fundamental clarifications on suspicions around his nationality", while continuing to assert that the President holds a U.S. residency card but under a different name... [Michael Martelly instead of Michel Martelly]...
