ARTICLE - BELIZAIRE CASE - CLOSED

END OF SEASON II, THE BELIZAIRE CASE IS CLOSED, FOR THE MOMENT
(Defend Haiti) -

Thursday, the Lower Chamber, in session, after the submission of the final report of 27 pages, of the Special Commission of Inquiry on the case Arnel Bélizaire, decided to close the case for the moment...

Following the intervention of a group of parliamentarians, who want to prevent the country sinking deeper into crisis and become ungovernable, insisted that the moment was not conducive to indict the Head of the State, whose responsibility is called into question in the report of the Commission. A resolution was proposed by Deputy Stevenson Timoléon [Petit-Goâve].

In this resolution, "the lower house renounces, on behalf of the interests of the Nation, to initiate the impeachment process of Michel Martelly". 48 deputies of the 54 present voted for the resolution.

However, if the Bélizaire case "seems closed", it does not seem to be closed definitely, because in the resolution passed, the Chamber of Deputies reserves "the right to take timely measures" against the Head of State... A Season III is therefore possible, in this endless saga that has plagued the government already for more than 5 months...
