"WE ARE READY TO DEFEND OURSELVES", DECLARE FORMER SOLDIERS
(Defend Haiti) -

PORT-AU-PRINCE - The demobilized Armed Forces of Haiti’s spokesman called "idle words" the request of the Minister of Justice to the national police, to evict the former soldiers, who occupy barracks and train in various parts of the country since the fall of 2011.

"The decision of the Minister of Justice means nothing to us. We expect them to come quietly dislodge us. We are ready to defend ourselves," declared to Haiti Press Network, the national spokesman of the demobilized military, Jean Baptiste Joseph.

Reacting to the letter of the Minister of Justice, asking the chief of police to evict the former military, Mr. Joseph said that, "the minister of Justice is not equal to his task. He has no right to order an attack on the military."

"Such a confrontation would be detrimental to the police institution, whose mission is rather to work with the army to ensure security in the country," he added.
