ARTICLE - ALIAS = MICHAEL DOCUMENTS

SENATE COMMISSION HOLDS DOCUMENTS OF PRESIDENT'S ALIAS IN THE U.S.
(Defend Haiti) -

PORT-AU-PRINCE - The senate commission investigating the nationality of members of the executive claims it has held for a month, material evidence that President Michel Martelly uses an alias in the United States, that of Michael Martelly.

Following revelations made by Senator Jean Joel Joseph (Ouest/Inite) that the president may have used the alias aboard a November 21, 2007 American Airlines flight to Florida, a notarized document bearing the signature of the president and taking notice of an alternate name, Michael, began circulating across the web.

This information would be in accord to a manifest of the 2007 American Airlines flight in which a Michael Martelly would have flown to Florida, according to Senator Joseph, who also spoke of a U.S. law enforcement arrest record that cites a Michael Martelly having the same birthday as the Head of State.

On Monday, speaking to journalists, Senator Steven Benoit (Ouest/Alternative) indicated that these revelations of an alias was not news to the senate commission investigating the nationality of members of the government. Senator Benoit says the commission had become aware of the alias a month prior.

Senator Benoit said the commission investigating the nationality of members of the executive government did not want to make their findings public, for it could compromise their analysis.

Benoit said the commission would write another letter to President Michel Martelly to require that he comply with the senate investigation and produce his travel documents.
