MARTELLY PAYS TRIBUTE TO THE HEROES OF INDEPENDENCE

Yesterday, on the occasion of Ancestors' Day, Michel Martelly, the President of the Republic, visited the Museum of the Haitian National Pantheon (MUPANAH), where he laid a wreath in tribute to the heroes of independence.

The Head of State was accompanied by the First Lady Sophia Martelly, the Prime Minister, Garry Conille, members of the cabinet, and other important personalities.

"The important thing is not to come to lay wreaths, but to think about the meaning of their struggle," declared the President; indicating at the same time that we must be inspired with the spirit of Union, that guided the founders of the nation.

Martelly President took this opportunity to visit the historic objects, noting the history of Haiti as being the first independent black republic of the world. The visit of the Head of State to the MUPANAH, shows once again that he is convinced of the need to learn from the past to better understand the future.

Considering the legacy of the ancestors, the President Martelly renews his commitment to work tirelessly to bring sustainable solutions to the various problems to which the Haitian people are faced with. He called for the contribution and collaboration of all sectors of national life.
