There is a large refuge camp along both sides of "La Piste" ( which used to be the old military airport from the time when Haiti had a military). For the last several months we have seen a large open area near La Piste being first leveled, gravel added and then tents put up. Then we saw a few wooden houses with tin roofs being constructed and now the houses are going up quickly. The Red Cross is co-ordinating the project of building on land provided by the Haitian government. A good benefit of this project is that the large deaf community that lives in the refuge camps will be some of the first to get these houses! To see video follow the link to:
