THE CFI IS POSITIVE, ON THE INTEREST OF INVESTORS

Mr. Karl Jean-Louis, Director General of the Investment Facilitation Center (CFI) is positive on the investments in Haiti, explaining that for the first 5 months of the year, the number of submitted projects is more important than last year. "We have $90 million confirmed and we have nearly $290 million dollars which are in study..."

We have $90 million confirmed and we have nearly 290 million dollars which are in study in the Interministerial Commission, which will allow us to create nearly 50,000 jobs. For me it is an indicator that shows there is a trust that was created, there is interest locally and that people want to invest [...]
...it takes time when a investor has an interest. He must do explorations, understand the system, conduct studies... so we had many promises from the forum that we held last November, and I can confirm that this summer we will have Sherwin-Williams, Williams and Dickies... and two other firms who have already come to Caracol, and who said they were interested in investing in Haiti.
At CFI, we took a series of measures to support local investors. We have signed MoUs with the Chambers of Commerce [...] it is with them, that we must move forward, for they, mobilize local investors and pose systemic structural problems, that there is in the system, to accompany them.
At the level of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Haiti (CCIH) we launched a national dialogue on investment. We were in Hinche, very soon we will be in Cap Haitien, and we'll go around, to have the same reading of the situation. Currently, at the CFI level, we are organizing sectoral tables, where we listen to sectors to understand the problems they have at the investment level... [...]"
