UE-DR PACT WORKTH RD$2.1B TO BOOST BORDER REGION MARKETS, INFRASTRUCTURE

Santo Domingo – European Delegation ambassador Irene Horejs, and European Development Funds coordinator Domingo Jiménez signed a 42 million euro (RD$2.1 billion) agreement Wednesday, to expand the infrastructure of the bi-national markets of the Dominican Republic and Haiti, build a bridge in the Haiti town of Ouanaminthe, rebuild country roads along the border zone, and remodel the Customs offices of both countries.
The pact also includes the construction of the market at Ouanaminthe, the protection of the Masacre River’s banks, and a joint effort to forge both markets into a bi-national complex in the long term.
