NO TRAVEL PAPERS, NO PRIME MINISTER,SAY SENATORS

PORT-AU-PRINCE - Haitian Senators have decided to postpone consultations with President Michel Martelly for the appointment and ratification of a prime minister, to allow the Head of State to comply with a senate investigation on nationality.

At the Conference of the Presidents held on Monday February 27, members of parliament adopted a resolution requiring the Head of State to submit his travel documents to the special investigating senate committee before turning to the process of appointing a new prime minister.

"We asked the president of the National Assembly to observe a break in meetings with the President of the Republic; because we have significant issues that need to also find appropriate solutions, " said Senator Joel Joseph (Ouest/Inite).

Before starting any process of ratification President Martelly must also set a date for the municipal and legislative elections, the senators have required.

"We urge the President to propose a prime minister. It is not for the senators to choose one of the three nominees. Martelly must submit only one name," said the second senator from the Ouest.

"The parliamentarians also expect an answer on the question of the pink army that occupies the entire country, especially in Carrefour where over 1,000 young boys and girls are training armed," said the Senator.

The senators asked President Martelly to clearly to take a firm stand against the occupation of former camps of the Armed Forces of Haiti by demobilized soldiers...
