MARTELLY IN HINCHE THIS WEDNESDAY

President Michel Martelly, will travel today to Hinche, in the Central Plateau. He will be accompanied by European Commissioner for Development, Mr Andris Piebalgs, who is on a visit for two days in the country since yesterday Tuesday.

During this day the President of Haiti will inaugurate a municipal administrative complex located opposite the airport runway. Then he will lay the foundation stone for the construction of the road section Hinche/Saint-Raphael, before inaugurating the Peace court of Hinche at noon.

Note that Mr. Piebalgs is in Haiti as part of the signing of a strategic document establishing until 2013, the priorities of the cooperation between Haiti and the European Union which provides €100 million in supplementary support to the reconstructing of the country.

Yesterday Tuesday, two financing agreements were signed; one relating to the support to the Haiti / Dominican Republic binational cooperation in the areas of infrastructure, trade, environment and local development across borders, for an amount 43 million euros. The second, amounting €4.5 million is relating to the support of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

The EU also yesterday proceeded to the the launch of 9 new projects, totaling 4.4 million euros, selected during its last call for proposals within the framework of support to the initiatives of civil society and local communities, through the Non State Actors and Local Authorities (NSA-LA program).
