MEETING OF ALBA CANCELED, DUE TO THE POLITICAL SITUATION IN HAITI
(Haiti Libre) -

Following the important cooperation agreement signed at the XI Summit of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA), President Chavez, had announced that the Foreign Ministers of member countries, would meet in Haiti, on March 2-3, 2012 in the city of Jacmel, to develop a detailed work plan for this new cooperation.

This important working meeting has been canceled and rescheduled. Although officially the reason for this postponement has not been disclosed, a diplomatic source reported that the resignation of Prime Minister, Dr. Garry Conille, a resigning government and the appointment of Laurent Lamothe to the position of Chief of Government and the ratification process are the cause.

The meeting could take place in April 2012, although no new date has been proposed so far by the Government of Haiti. Moreover, the next meeting originally scheduled in Jacmel, will be held in the capital Port-au-Prince. No explanation for this change of location was disclosed.
