In the time between Christmas and New Years people travel to visit family in outlying areas. Here these passengers are boarding the boat to Pestel.

The Pestel boat is crammed with passengers and supplies. It is in boats packed like these that people attempt to reach the Bahamas and United States with the hope of a better life.

I don't know how these boats stay afloat!

Wharf Jeremie is a very poor community. These tin shacks are right by the sea. During heavy rains sometimes people drown.

There are a lot of boats docked here. Here is a view of Wharf Jeremie between the many masts.
