REMOBILIZED SOLDIERS BY THE HUNDREDS DEMAND RESPECT FOR THE CONSTITUTION

CAP-HAITIEN - At the initiative of the head of the armed men of the north, Marcel Daniel, along with individuals in olive green military uniforms, and accompanied by former rebel Guy Philippe and Senator Jean-Charles Moise, the remobilized took to the streets with a demonstration that grew to the hundreds, and demanded respect for the constitution.
Thursday was the 25th anniversary of the framing of the 1987 Constitution of Haiti and gunmen claiming to be members of the former Armed Forces of Haiti, with the support of former rebel leader, Guy Philippe (2004), called for the return of the army, disbanded since 1995.
The presence of protesters to respect the constitution and the gunmen, caused a scare in the city, particularly near the area of Vertières, where uniformed men wanted to cross the other event which also protested against the return of the army.
Shots in the air were probably drawn by the men in olive green, but no casualties have been recorded. Under police protection, the event for the constitution continued its route, ending before the Divisional Delegation, where it was joined by Senator Jean-Charles Moise (Nord/Inite).
The Member of Parlaiment promised to continue working for the respect of the constitution and in favor of the population.
The men in olive green for their part, promised to win the streets when they see fit, minimizing the statements of the interior and justice ministries that have called them to clear the sites they occupy....
