EXCELLENT RELATIONS BETWEEN HAITI AND THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Laurent Lamothe, the Minister of Foreign Affairs met with his local counterpart, Carlos Morales Troncoso, yesterday Sunday, March 25 in La Romana, Dominican Republic, around the finalization of the preparations for the official visit of President Michel Martelly, who will arrived this Monday, March 26, 2012 at 10:00 am at the Las Americas International Airport.
The main objective of the visit of the Chief of the Haitian State to his counterpart Leonel Fernandez will consist among others to formally reactivate the Joint Bilateral Commission between Haiti and the Dominican Republic and initial seven memoranda of understanding, to expand cooperation in various fields, such as a trilateral Dominican Republic-Haiti-Venezuela agreement on collaboration in social programs.
Both Chancellor also discussed during this two-hour meeting, the need for an immigration agreement to manage the transport problem (the Haitian company Capital coach line), the creation of a tripartite funding between the Dominican Republic, Haiti and Venezuela (Petrocaribe) on development projects in Haiti, and the signing of an assistance for the social promotion programs.
Both Ministers welcomed the excellent relationship that Haiti has with the Dominican Republic ... to the benefit of the expansion of trade between the two states. "We will consider the best way to extend this collaboration and cooperation between our countries, and our private sectors, to create wealth and economic development for the benefit of our peoples," informed Chancellor Lamothe.
