GARRY CONILLE NO LONGER "OUTGOING" PRIME MINISTER
(Defend Haiti) -
PORT-AU-PRINCE - The outgoing Prime Minister has decided to retire definitely and stop liquidating current business, says a source close to the Prime Minister.
Back in Haiti after a trip abroad for health reasons, Garry Conille gave all state property that he had.
Although he assured President Martelly of leaving the PM Offices on the second Monday of May, Mr. Conille decided to withdraw a month before, reports the newspaper Le Matin.
This decision by the outgoing Prime Minister comes as the Senate has not yet decided the fate of the current prime minister-designate, Laurent Lamothe.
The special Senate committee charged with analyzing the documents designated by the Prime Minister continues to work. Its report should be made public no later than next Thursday, according to Rudolph Joazile (Nord-Est/Alternative), its president.
Recall that a clash occurred last week between Garry Conille, former Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive and Dominican authorities on contracts awarded to Dominican firms during the post-earthquake emergency.
Garry Conille considered that these contracts to the Dominicans were not awarded according to standards.
