STATE SEC. DELVA SEES OPPORTUNITY IN REMOBILIZED FORCES
(Defend Haiti) -

PORT-AU-PRINCE - The Secretary of State for Public Security, Reginald Delva, is seeking a resolution to make use of the remobilized soldiers, whose numbers increased throughout the country last week. Delva proposed an agreement that would not force them to leave old bases.

Delva reported that, in regards to remobilized soldiers of the Haitian army, "following an agreement with the authorities, these citizens will not be forced to vacate the premises, but will not, for now, be able to travel in military uniform and be armed."

Secretary Delva's revelation came on Friday as an increase in numbers of men and women training at old bases of the Armed Forces of Haiti had been observed.

"Negotiations are continuing," Delva said again, "together with an inventory that is being done to know the human resources that are available at these camps."

"It is possible to grasp the opportunities of this crisis," Delva said, "estimating that among young people who train at present, there are some who chose not to join gangs, and instead wait for the remobilization of the army to serve their country."
