ARTICLE - VENEZUELA - GASOLINE SHORTAGE

SHORTAGE OF GASOLINE IN THE COUNTRY
(Haiti Libre) -

Because of an insufficient storage capacity [maximum 22 days], Haiti is exposed at risk of recurring shortages of fuel when there is a delay in supply, as is happening for gasoline [diesel is not affected... currently]

Wilson Laleau, the Minister of Commerce and Industry explained the situation, which has caused the last few days long queues at petrol stations in Haiti. It is related to problems in Venezuela concerning the supply of fuel for Haiti... We have two problems. A problem of insufficient storage capacity, and also problems that affect the national economy. We need to find definitive solutions to these problems. At first, we'll see how we can address this supply problem, while waiting to work on sustainable strategies to increase the storage capacity within the country; to ensure that we have sufficient strategic reserves [...] It is not normal, that every 22 days the country is exposed to a potential shortage..."

The Government assures that the arrival of the tanker on Sunday will bring a normalization of the situation.
