ARTICLE - MAYOR ANNOUNCES WORK PROJECTS

THE MAYOR OF PORT-AU-PRINCE ANNOUNCES SEVERAL ACTIONS IN THE CAPITAL!
(Haiti Libre) -

Tuesday, at a press conference, Gabrielle Hyacinthe, the mayor of Port-au-Prince, has indicated that demolitions would begin, that the Communal Asylum and the Town Hall would be relocated, and that a large clean-up operation of the capital will start next month.

"...we have begun to identify a series of homes that are damaged, and which are a danger [...] There are houses that were already coded [red], we listed them, and we will publish them in the newspaper. We will make reference to the address and owners. We give 11 days for the Town Hall with other partners to begin to demolish these houses.

We also work at the Communal Asylum which has many problems. We are looking at how we can move the elderly. We found funds that will allow us to relocate the Communal asylum and the City hall of Port-au-Prince...

[...] We will clean up the city; it is very important. We will set up a project where people will work in every neighborhood, in the 35 neighborhoods [...] we think we can have between 10 to 40 people in each neighborhood, who will be deployed to clean [... ] payment will be made via the Town Hall. This will give work to more people over a period of 6 months [...] we will start by next month..."
