LAUNCHING OF NEW PROGRAMS OF SUPPORT TO THE PRIVATE SECTOR AND TRADE
(Haiti Libre) -

As part of the launching of new programs of support to trade and the ratification of a new Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA); opens this Tuesday, the seminar "The European Union at the service of the Haitian private secto: How to benefit from the support to trade of the EU and the Economic Partnership Agreement EU-CARIFORUM"

On the occasion of the opening ceremony, Mr. Carlo De Filippi, Charge d'Affaires and Head of the Delegation of the European Union in Haiti, declared "The European Union is a long-standing partner of the business community in Haiti. The country is currently experiencing a new dynamic economic growth, and job creation. Thanks to its new programs and the implementation of the EPAs, the EU intends to support this process, and strengthen its engagement with public and private actors in Haiti."

Organized in Haiti, jointly by the Delegation of the European Union, the European Commission [whose experts from the Directorate General for Trade will be present], and placed under the patronage of the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MCI), this seminar will help to deepen the dialogue around three major issues for the Haitian private sector:

The opportunities of the EPA between the CARIFORUM and the European Union, and the practical implications for the private sector ;

The new programs and tools of the European Union in favor of trade and the Haitian private sector ;

The requirements and procedures for export towards the European Union, particularly in priority sectors for Haiti (textiles, fruits and derivatives, rum etc...)

This will be the opportunity to launch new programs of support to the private sector and trade, totaling nearly 15 million euros.

Before the ratification of this economic partnership agreement, Mr. Carlo De Filippi Charge d'Affaires and Head of the EU Delegation, and Wilson Laleau, Minister of Trade and Industry, met yesterday with the Haitian private sector to review all the benefits of the EPA, for taitian businesses, as well as new programs to access it.
