4.4 MILLION EUROS FOR 9 PROJECTS

The Delegation of the European Union that was present in Haiti for two days, proceeded at a public ceremony, the launching of 9 new projects selected during its last call for proposals as part of support to the initiatives of civil society and local communities, through the Non State Actors and Local Authorities program (NSA-LA), funded to the tune of €4,400,000.
List of projects:
"Sustainable Partnership for local development through the promotion of community tourism in Saut d'Eau", implemented by the organization Concern.
"Capacity Building and Investment Promotion in three municipalities of the Central Department", implemented by the Municipality of Saut d'eau.
"BIBLIOTAPTAP, a creation of mobile libraries to build local capacity and promote access to rights", implemented by the organization Libraries Without Borders (BSF)
"Development of space of local democracy and capacity building of local councilors for a better governance of the town of Kenscoff," implemented by the municipality of Kenscoff.
"Jesyon fatra Kafou Fey" implemented by GRET.
"Capacity building of the town of Jacmel in the field of cleanliness", implemented by the city of Jacmel.
"Support to the local initiatives and support of educational actors in the chaîne des Cahos", implemented by the Oganisation pou Koré Pwojè Kommunauté, OKPK.
"Project to support the revitalization of the cocoa industry in the Grand Anse", implemented by the city of Abricot.
"Kanape ve leve kanpe – Revitalization of the Canapé Vert zone" ,implemented by the organization Cordaid.
Mr Andris Piebalgs, European Commissioner for Development, closed the ceremony with a speech about the importance of these various projects in the context of strengthening the governance and the decentralization, important areas of focus of the 10th European funds development (10th EDF) for the period 2008-2013.
