With all the fallen walls, whenever there are heavy rains the canal overflows.
The upper section of the canal has a solid rock wall. The British Red Cross is funding the repair and improvements to the canal. They want to cover the canal over with cement so that it becomes a walkway inside of an open space for people to use as a sewer and garbage. This would make a cleaner environment for the residents of this community.
These families have stayed in their broken homes and are using tarps to provide cover from rains.
The further down the canal goes the worse the destruction.
