LAST ASSESSMENT, THE SITUATION WORSENS IN PORT-AU-PRINCE

Despite the plan, put in place by the Government and humanitarian partners, the epidemic continues to spread rapidly.

The situation in Port-au-Prince and metropolitan area (Port-au-Prince, Carrefour, Cité Soleil, Delmas, Kenscoff, Petion Ville, Port-au-Prince, Croix des Bouquets and Tabarre) is significantly worse in 24 hours.

The last official assessment of the Ministry of Health (cumulative), dated of November 9, reported 278 cases hospitalized and 10 deaths. 24 hours later, the assessment (cumulative) of November 10 reported 443 cases hospitalized (+ 59.35%) and 13 deaths (+30%), respectively +165 hospitalized cases and +3 deaths between November 9 and 10.

At the national level, where 50% departments are affected by cholera, the results are as follows:November 10, 201012,303 hospitalized (+8,26% compared to the previous day)796 deaths (+9.1% compared to the previous day).

Note that HaitiLibre from field data, published 48 hours ago that the assessment of November 10 was established to 12.000 hospitalizations and 845 deaths.

"The national and international resources are beginning to reach their limits [...] there is an urgent need, of more staff and medical equipment, more tablets to purify water, more water tanks, more units of water treatment, more hygiene kits for families [...] A major effort has already been made, but the sheer quantity of relief items that need to be delivered in the days and weeks ahead is going to require more logistical and financial support for the Government [...] without this, the epidemic could outrun our efforts," said Nigel Fisher, the Humanitarian Coordinator of the UN in Haiti.
