ACCORDING TO EVANS PAUL THERE IS A LACK OF KNOW-HOW AMONG OUR LEADERS
(Haiti Libre)
Evans Paul the leader of KID (Konvasyon Inite Demokratik), believes that politics should not be improvised and that there is a certain lack of know-how among our leaders "...we have a crisis of society in which we improvise all the things, the politics also. Politics has rules; a way to be made., Moreover we want to do politics without politics. We want to do politics against politics [...] politics is precisely the responsibility of working for the welfare of the society. A badly made policy can give us the situation we are currently experiencing, while a well-made policy is able to give us a different story. We need to modernize the policy, give it a value. This will allow for having a better behavior that could lead to a mode of governance that will meet the desires of the Haitian people.
I'm going to say that I do not believe that neither Mr. Martelly nor the parliamentarians has bad faith. I believe that we have just a problem that is related to a certain lack of know-how [...]the problem is not only to desire, but it is also necessary to have the manner, the method to do it, and the method can not be made according to the will of only one person. It has to do with the will but in the context of a forum where the executive and the legislative branches would agree on the model of society wanted for the country."
Mr. Paul also reacted to the statements of the President suggesting that we are experiencing simply a legislative dictatorship. "This is not a dictatorship in the sense that the parliament can not impose its will. Dictatorship is when there is an individual or group of individuals who act for their own interests at the expense of the rights of others. The parliament is acting within its powers. You may not agree, say this is excessive, that they go too far, but the vote of parliament is precisely a part of the manifestation of democracy. It is a political choice that we have made through the constitution that we have adopted, which is the constitution of 1987, which is in force. So I can not say that there is a dictatorship. I can say that there is a democratic atmosphere that does not correspond to what the majority of people in the country expect."
About his possible designation as Prime Minister, Evans Paul has simply answered "...what I can just say, as a politician, as a Haitian citizen, that I am neither indifferent nor obsessed. I am here, available and disposed to serve whatever the context [...] The important thing is not my future but what Evans Paul needs to do and other Haitians to ensure a better future for the Haitian people and the country of Haiti..."
