The USNS Comfort Hospital ship arrived in the Port-au-Prince bay in the morning of Thursday August, 18th. Pre-surgery screenings were being held that day and we arrived early with some patients. The outside grounds of the Haitian Coast Guard station "Base Navale Amiral Killick" is a small refuge camp.
Children and families caried on their day with crowds of people surrounding them hoping to get seen by the doctors.
The Coast Guard police kept a watchful eye on things.
We stood out in front waiting for the set up crew to finish preparing.
We arrived at 8:00am and were told that the set up crew would finish preparations by noon.
