5.5 MILLION EUROS TO STRENGTHEN THE EMERGENCY RESPONSE

On the occasion of the opening of the regional forum on risk management in urban environments organized by the International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) and the European Commission - Humanitarian Aid & Civil Protection (ECHO), Mr Paul Webber, Charge d'Affaires of the Delegation of the European Union (EU) in Haiti will today announce the launch of the new programmes of preparation for major climate risk in Haiti, financed by the European Commission.
Nearly 1.3 million people will benefit from 11 new projects in the departments of the Artibonite, West, Nippes and Southeast.
This new funding amounting to a total of 5.5 million euros (318,000 million gourds) aims to support the most vulnerable communities and to support the local institutions in order to strengthen the response to emergencies and to reduce the risks associated with extreme natural events.
