THE CEP - BEYOND REALITY
(Haiti Libre) -
Subject of multiple allegations of fraud and corruption, following the "opaque" publication of the results of the recent elections, convened by the Head of State and Justice, subject of a Senate inquiry, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), whose President Gaillot Dorsinvil and two other advisers are subject to a summons, is preparing in spite of everything, as if nothing had happened, the organization of partial senatorial elections that could take place by the end of 2011, said Pierre Louis Opont, the Director General of the CEP [who is under a prohibition to leave the country]...
While admitting that the absence of the majority of nine members of the CEP poses "some problem" in terms of governance of the institution... Pierre Louis Opont indicated that the employees assigned to the various offices, continued to do their job normally. "We are working to prepare the organization of a partial election for the Sanate [...] We evaluate the electoral system, we ensure the training of electoral staff, the inventory of equipment and we stand ready to mobilize the machine as soon as the Head of State convenes the people for the elections..." without being able to confirm or deny if it is possible to make the election before the end of 2011.
