The La Piste area is located near Cite Soleil, lower Delmas and near this old and damaged factory.
In the back right corner of La Piste, near the giant flag pole shown in the distance is an organized building project area; notice the wooden stakes.
Over the last few months we have seen wooden buildings being constructed, slowly at first and since November construction rapidly accelerated. We pass the site all the time and on the day after the presidential elections we took the time to visit the site.
These sturdy, compact buildings are well built and are the size (a little larger) of the typical Haitian home.
It is roomy inside and with windows well ventilated.
