photos - election protest #2 - part 10

The police were shocked too!

Some of the members in the crowd started to throw rocks but the others were yelling at them to stop (notice the journalist with the blue helmet; he is wearing a gas mask and was completely fooled by the veering of the crowd; he thought the crowd would force their way through the barricades and was preparing for tear gas)

We had to dodge some rocks. Notice the man with the red cap keeping ready and alert. The police kept their poise and did not use force. They handled the situation well.

One of the candidates gave an interview to journalists near the barricades (Garaudy Laguerre).

We headed back to Petionville and drove downtown to meet the crowd's arrival near the palace. We looked at the heavily damaged Ministry of the Economy and Finance. The building is unrepairable and will be demolished. This is a symbol of the country one year after the earthquake. The financial situation for the government and the country is just as shaky as the ministry of Economy and Finance building.
