COAST GUARD STOPS 17 HAITIANS IN OVERLOADED BOAT NEAR PALM BEACH
(Sun Sentinel) - By Alexia Campbell
A group of 17 Haitians was taken back to Haiti on Friday after the U.S. Coast Guard spotted them off the coast of Palm Beach.
The 10 men, four women and three children were packed into an overloaded, 22-foot boat when the Lake Worth crew stopped them near Palm Beach. No one was injured.
The crew supplied food, water and basic medical care and took the group to Cap Haitien on a 110-foot patrol boat.
No human smugglers were identified on the boat, and no arrests were made, the Coast Guard said.
