HAITI - POLICE: 16TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE PNH
(HaitiLibre) -
Created in 1995 after the "dissolution" of the Armed Forces of Haiti, by the President Jean-Bertrand Aristide, the Police Nationale d'Haiti (PNH) will celebrate its 16 years this Sunday, June 12, 2011...
Taking advantage of this event, Frantz Lerebours, the Spokesman of the PNH, has requested the cooperation of the people and various sectors to accompany the PNH [effective of 9,000 men] in its work explaining "what is happening in Haiti in terms of crime is also a consequence of what happens elsewhere in terms of financial crime, violent crime... [...] the criminal economy, currently represents about 16% of the global economy, it is not nothing! There is a tangle of legal and formal economy with this parallel economy, which causes problems and increases day by day.
[...] We are satisfied to be able to keep a balance in society, [...] from 2004 to today, is a very important passage in the life of the PNH, which had even put its existence in question in 2004, remember... Much water has flowed under the bridge since [...] we set ourselves a set of goals; some have been achieved, others partially and some not..."
A set of activities are planned to commemorate this anniversary. A delegation from the New York Police Department has arrived on Saturday morning in Port-au-Prince. It will visit the juvenile detention center on Delmas 33 and attend a "basketball show" organized by NBA players who are currently present in Haiti.
