The happiness really showed on some people's faces!
This woman is holding a picture of her husband shaking hands with Jean Bertrand Aristide. The picture was taken in 2003. I read an article on the internet about the woman holding this picture. Her husband was Robert Moliere and he was a Lavalas member. He died in the earthquake. When Aristide came back she came to Aristide's house in her husband's place. She knew that he would have been there so she made a point of standing there holding up the picture.
The police were kept busy keeping the people away from the gates.
These Family Lavalas supporters came carrying a large banner in the procession to Aristide's house.
On the side of the road was this sound music which was playing music. This provided a festive environment for the crowd!
