JAMAICA EASES TRAVEL FOR HAITIAN BUSINESS PEOPLE
(Jamaica Observer)

Intended to strengthen private sector ties

JAMAICA has put in place administrative arrangements with the Honorary Consul of Jamaica in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, that will simplify the issuing of multiple-entry visas.

The honorary consul is now authorised to issue multiple-entry visas valid for six months to bona fide business persons from Haiti. The previous process required approval from the Ministry of National Security.

The steps arise from a July 2010 decision of Caricom heads of government as a move towards full integration of Haiti into the community. It is also aimed at encouraging increased business between the private sectors of Haiti and Jamaica.
