photos - aristide's return - part 7

I saw an interesting sign on a telephone pole. It says and shows a lot about people's opinions on the electoral process. Translated it says "The results of the CNO (observers) on these elections".. "Who pilots this propaganda and intoxication machine". The picture is the speaker of the CEP annonucing the results of the first results. He is likened to a marionette which is moved by Canada, United States and France and the rest of the European Community to give the results of the contested first round to Manigat and Martelly. Opinions are ripe right now on the end of the 2nd round as well. Will the vote of the people be respected or will someone "create and move" the voting count process to a candidate of "selection"?
Voting was made "easier" for the 2nd round in that the cell phone companies had a dedicated number that people could contact to find out where their voting center was located.

Billboards encouraged people to vote on March 20th. Now everyone is anxiously waiting the CEP's decision on who wins the presidential election. Michel Martelly or Mirlande Manigat.

It was hoped that a large amount of people would show up to vote. From articles and info I have read it looks like it was a 30% participation rate.

One common theme on Mirlande Manigat's campaign was "Ban'm Manman'm", translated into english as "Give me my mommy". The theme is that a mother looks after a children and since Mirlande Manigat is a woman she will lead the nation with a mother's touch.
