The length of the broken canal shows a long line of destruction.


With no canal walls in place flooding affects some of the homes (notice the mud mark halfway up this door)


Near the road people have constructed this box type structure (some sort of depot).



There is a community committee in the neighborhood and the president of the committee assigns manual labor jobs each day to people living in the zone. The British Red Cross funds this make-work project. Here the workers are cleaning out the section of canal by Yonel's house.


These 2 drain pipes carry water from the dammed up portion of the canal enabling the workers to be able to cement the sides and bottom of the canal; a tedious process since now is rainy season.
