photos - flooding - part 6

The people living along the bottom of the ravine are poor. They salvaged any of their possessions that they could. This man is cleaning some chairs that were covered in mud.

This woman cut her heel on a piece of tin that was in the ravine (a remainder of someone's home.) People raced for higher ground. When people returned to their homes they were greeted with one big mess, mud and water. Some people lost everything.

Children and adults were cleaning.

The land that was in front of this temporary home disappeared during the flooding. There is no land left along this house. We know the family that lives here. Daphka was a girl who went to the United States for orthopedic surgery. She now lives at H.I.S. Home for Children. Her family escaped the flooding. The only thing they can do is build a retaining wall and back fill to get land back. The next heavy rain will probably destroy this "temporary home". It is pretty sad.

The Haitian people carry on after everything that hits them. Everywhere we went people were at work cleaning up from the damage of the flooding. Pray for those who once again have lost their homes to a natural disaster.
