photos - flooding - part 1

There has been a lot of cloudy skies lately that have brought along some rain as well. This is the Delmas 19 area where our gatekeeper Yonel lives. The last couple of months we have been sponsoring the reconstruction of his home.

His home is now finished and his family moved in before the heavy rains began on Monday. Yonel worked hard at rebuilding his home. Some of the older guys here at Coram Deo gave him a helping hand and we also hired a "boss macon" for building his home.

These are the finishing touches of paint that Sony is applying. I was going to put a separate section of photos showing the building of the home but decided to just skip to the end because of what happened Monday evening - heavy rains that brought some flooding to our neighborhood. Yonel's house stayed high and dry!

The bridge connecting Cite Aux-Cayes to Cite Jeremie was flooded by the raging waters running through the ravine. The waters were so high that the flood waters were higher than the top of the bridge and the rushing water damaged the bridge.

Flood waters spread onto the streets surrounding the ravine. When the waters receded lots of mud was left behind.
